Effective UI | Lead Experience Architect
Effective UI (EUI) was a design and development agency serving clients across a wide range of industries, from enterprise and healthcare to consumer and IoT products. As a Lead Experience Architect, my role was intentionally broad—spanning client engagement, project scoping, user research, experience strategy, interaction design, and acting as a liaison between clients and development teams. Working as an external consultant, I was often required to ramp up quickly, establish trust, and navigate communication challenges inherent to distributed teams and remote collaboration.
One major engagement involved a complete overhaul of Honeywell’s enterprise intranet, where I led the analysis of more than 1,500 pages of content to understand purpose, relevance, and usage. By restructuring information architecture and introducing personalization, the new digital workplace delivered tailored experiences aligned to different employee roles and needs, significantly improving findability and engagement.
For Herff Jones’ Online Yearbook, I helped guide the transition from a Flash-based platform to a modern web solution. This effort leveraged the opportunity to improve usability by enabling mobile photo uploads, shared access to layouts, and more collaborative workflows—modernizing both the toolset and the user experience for students and administrators.
In the Total Connect project, I supported the design of an IoT platform for home and small business users, providing centralized control of doors, windows, and video systems. UX work focused on simplifying complex permissions, customizing access levels, and organizing contact and user groups—delivering a cohesive, secure, and intuitive control experience.
I also led UX efforts for a healthcare benefits enrollment platform, transforming a traditionally complex and disengaging task into a clear, step-by-step process. Streamlined workflows and transparent decision points helped users confidently select plans with minimal friction.
Across all engagements, my focus was on quickly understanding user needs, aligning stakeholders, and delivering practical, user-centered solutions that balanced business goals, technical constraints, and real-world use.
